Questions before we talk?
Here are a few things people usually want to know about financial coaching and what it's like to work with me.
What does a financial coach actually do?
I help you make sense of your finances and decide what to do next. We'll look at your numbers, talk through your goals and concerns, and put together a plan that makes sense for your situation.
Do I need to get everything organized before we meet?
No. If everything were already perfectly organized, you might not need me. Bring what you have. I'll help you figure out what we need from there.
Is financial coaching mostly for people in debt?
No. Debt is one reason people reach out, but it's definitely not the only one. You might be earning more than you used to and want to use it wisely. You might be saving but aren't sure you're doing enough. Or you may simply want someone to look at the whole picture with you.
Are you going to put me on a super strict budget?
No. I'm not interested in giving you a plan that looks great on paper and makes you miserable in real life. We'll talk about where your money is going, what matters to you, and what may need to change to get you where you want to go.
Can my spouse or partner come too?
Yes. If you share finances, it can be really helpful to have both of you in the conversation. You don't have to agree on everything before you show up. That's part of what we can work through together.
Are you going to try to sell me investments or insurance?
No. Financial coaching is the service. Our conversations are about helping you understand your finances and make better decisions with your money, not turning the meeting into a product sales pitch.
What happens during the Clarity Call?
It's a conversation. Tell me why you're reaching out and what's been on your mind financially. I'll ask a few questions, explain how I work, and we'll see if working together makes sense.
What if I'm embarrassed about my finances?
You don't have to clean things up before you talk to me. Whatever the numbers look like today, that's where we start. I'm much more interested in helping you figure out what happens next.
Do we have to meet in person?
No. We can work together virtually, so you don't have to live in Reno to work with New Path.
How do I know which service I need?
You don't have to know before we talk. That's one of the reasons the Clarity Call comes first. Tell me what's going on, and I'll help you figure out what the next step should be.
Just ask.
Money is personal, and your question doesn't have to fit neatly into one of the boxes above.
Start with a conversation.
Tell me what's going on with your money. We'll take it from there.
